Council fights back against rogue landlords in Hammersmith and Fulham

Fines issued to landlords for breeching occupation and safety regulations

Hammersmith and Fulham Council has issued fines in the excess of £20,000 to landlords in the borough for failing to meet health and safety standards.

When commenting on the fines, Cllr Lisa Homan, H&F Cabinet Member for Housing, stated “Rogue landlords are a blight on too many peoples’ lives across the borough, and the council is determined to root them out. We will continue to stand up for tenants — and their families — whose lives are made a misery, and even endangered, by dodgy landlords,”

Hammersmith and Fulham District Council plan to use the money won in these legal cases to make sure more tenants are protected and seek out more landlords currently breaking regulations and putting tenants at risk.

There are many regulations landlords have to consider with when renting property. These include holding an EPC, gas safety checks and meeting multiple occupation requirements.
