H&G Spotlight Employee: John Horton

In this new monthly feature we aim to find out a bit more about a particular Horton and Garton member of staff.

Who to start with? Well Mr Horton himself seemed the logical choice:

1. How long have you worked for Horton and Garton?  5 years which had passed like a flash, roll on the 10 year anniversary.

2. Where did you grow up and what did you do before H&G? Staffordshire, in the sticks, moved to London as a teenager and worked for the MoD for 5 years. Having signed the official secrets act if I told you any more I’d have to kill you…

3. Funniest Horton and Garton moment? It would probably have to be when a client told me I looked like Daniel Craig- I had to ask if she’d been to Specsavers!

4. Favourite Film? American Beauty, or The  Godfather – or a christmas cracker like Where Eagles Dare or the Great Escape.

5. Which (if any) sports teams do you support? My boyhood team is Wolverhampton Wanderers and now the local team is QPR (let’s not mention relegation)

6. Favourite band/artist, album, and song? The Stone Roses, I Am The Resurrection probably takes the biscuit as my favourite song. I also like grungey stuff like Nirvana and Britpop as well as this was my era- now its Absolute 90’s on the radio at all times when The Today Programme on Radio 4 isn’t on.

7. Favourite food? Any meal from the menu of Indian Zing or Hammersmith Thai Cafe, but not too hot!

8. What do you like doing outside of work? Any hobbies? Playing golf, watching cricket and football, and spending time with the young family in Ravenscourt Park or on the river.

9. Best thing about working at Horton and Garton? Being independent and working as part of a hard working team. Not wearing a tie to work. Not towing the corporate line.  Plus, the commute to work which is 75 paces. Or the multi choice A1 restaurants, pubs and cafe’s 5 minutes walk from my home.
