Neighbourhood Watch

Near to where I live in Hammersmith a neighbour’s property was recently the victim of lead theft.

With lead scrap metal values at £1.00 per kilo – £1,000 per tonne crimes like these are on the increase. What was difficult to comprehend was that the culprits got away with this brazen theft in a residential street during the daylight hours.

In the past few years there has been an increase in the theft of lead from roofs, with Church roofs being one of the most popular targets, but thieves are also now targeting pubs and hotels, restaurants and obviously now residential properties. We all need to take an active but not too active approach in our own neighbourhoods and report or at least question what could be a potential theft.
