Autumn market update

Horton and Garton continue to go from strength to strength. After opening six years ago with an office of four staff, we now have a strong team of eleven and are continuing to grow. Our expert local knowledge has got us where we are today, and below you can read our honest opinion on the current state of the Sales and Lettings markets:

Sales review by Sales Manager, Martin Clements

The strong buyer demand and record sold prices seen in Spring 2014 has waned over the summer period, and so too have buyer registrations during the same period. There remains, however, a shortage of quality property which continues to keep prices buoyant. The best family houses are still attracting a lot of buyer interest as are properties requiring modernisation or updating. Also particularly sought after are Victorian mansion flats across all price and size ranges.

Despite the traditionally quieter period mentioned above, we have, however, already seen a resurgence in market activity since families have returned from their holidays ready for the new school term. As this the case, were you looking to achieve a sale this side of Christmas, then now would definitely be a very good time to consider listing your property on the market.

Lettings review by Lettings Manager, Ashley Clements

We have recorded an excellent year to date in our rentals department which has broken all previous records. Late summer and autumn is traditionally the peak season for rentals, and we have been letting property as quickly as we are being instructed as there is a strong demand for property across all price and size ranges.

Whilst the demand for flats or apartments is always very consistent, we have also very encouragingly seen a return in demand for larger houses. We believe this is because family tenants are now more comfortable with committing to longer term tenancies than we experienced during the course of last year.
