Whats on in Chiswick this Autumn: Outdoors edition
Our pick of the best, safe outdoor events happening in W4 over the coming weeks
Summer may be coming to an end, but around Chiswick there are still some dates worth adding to your diary before the leaves turn brown.
Chiswick Food Market
During lockdown, we all witnessed the gradual depletion of our supermarket shelves and in response, many of us turned to local greengrocers and outdoor markets for our fresh produce. Now, four months later and The Food Market Chiswick is one such one stop destination for the highest quality fruit, vegetables, meat and fish that has been attracting locals every Sunday, come rain or shine. The market will continue at Grove Park Farmhouse throughout September from 10.00am to 14.00pm with approximately 25 stalls from ethical and sustainable producers.
The Chiswick House Dog Show Treasure Hunt
Usually around this time of year, Chiswick House and gardens host an annual dog show to celebrate the best canines Chiswick has to offer. Sadly, this year the show has had to be cancelled and in lieu, Chiswick House have organised a treasure hunt to get tails wagging. On the 19th and 20th of September, 10 clues will be hidden in cafe and shop windows around Chiswick High Road with answers combining to spell a final location.
Prizes include 12 months of consultations from Wolfe vets, full groom for one at DogTown and a £40 voucher for Chiswick camera centre with a free gift for every four-legged member of your team.

Chiswick Flower Market
September saw the first new flower market come to London in 150 years as the Chiswick Flower Market took over Chiswick High Road. On the first Sunday of every month, locals will be able to get a taste of the Columbia Road flower market with a huge range of flowers, plants and horticultural products on offer from well-established London traders. The first day proved popular and over the coming months the market will continue to grow, with more traders joining the team.
The next market is Sunday October 4th, 9.30am- 15.00pm.
Chiswick Playhouse in the garden
After months of quiet, the hidden home of theatre in Chiswick is finally reopening its doors with a bang, bringing an Autumn line up of West End quality productions to the garden of The Tabard pub. There’s ‘The Soprano behind the screen’ on the 18th September, a night of musical theatre favourites performed by West End stars at ‘A night at the West (West) end’ on the 25th, and a magical evening of cabaret on the 2nd October. Book your tickets here.
Duck Pond Market
Providing another safe day out is the Duck Pond Market at Gunnersbury Park. The artisan marketplace full of ethically made arts & crafts, gifts, vintage, plants, homewares and clothing takes over the park every second and fourth Saturday of the month, 10am until 4pm. Musicians play throughout the day alongside family activities, with dogs welcome to join in the fun too.
Sunset cinema
Just a five-minute drive outside of Chiswick is the Sunset drive-in cinema in Acton, London’s biggest outdoor cinema screen. Tickets can range from at £30-60 per car with guests sent a menu to pre-book food and drink before arrival to be delivered to the car during the film. Upcoming classics include Dirty Dancing on the 19th, and the wonderful Mrs Doubtfire on the 20th.
Alongside these great events, some Chiswick restaurants and cafes are still offering ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ discounts throughout September to get you through the beginning of a new week, read the full list here.
