Let’s face it – it’s time for Plan Bee!

With bee populations in decline, we should all be doing what we can to make our gardens and neighbourhoods bee-friendly.

Or that’s according to buzzing bee expert, author, and Guardian journalist Alison Benjamin is who is hosting a free workshop at Hammersmith’s West Six Garden Centre on Saturday (June 30).

She plans to show urban gardeners simple steps they can take to improve life for all types of bees, and discuss why we need bees and explain how to create conditions in which they can thrive. This will include:

-Bee-friendly plants for gardens of all sizes and at what time of year they need to flower

-Plants and gardening practices we should avoid

-Varied habitats we can provide for bees in London

-What we can do in local parks and green spaces to encourage bees

The workshop, which starts at 2.30pm, is open to adults and children. West Six Garden Centre will give all participants a bee-friendly plant to take home free of charge.
