On Thursday 17 September, at Hammersmith’s new Civic Campus, Horton and Garton was named High Street Business of the Year at the 2026 Hammersmith and Fulham Business Awards.
We have had a front door on the high street since 2008, and today you will find us on King Street in Hammersmith and Chiswick High Road.
Not every estate agent keeps a high street office any more, but for us it is central to how we work. It is where clients push open the door for a chat and neighbours stop by with news.
We are proud, and a little humbled too. This year’s awards drew more than 160 applications from across Hammersmith and Fulham. A panel of 24 judges, all of whom work in the local business community, narrowed the field to a shortlist of 49 before choosing 19 winners. To be one of them means a great deal to the whole team at Horton and Garton.
For us, this award recognises the way we have tried to work for eighteen years: honest advice, proper service and a real interest in the people and the place around us.
West London is not a patch on a map to us. It is where our team lives, where our children go to school and where we spend our weekends.
Eighteen years in West London
Horton and Garton opened its doors on 8 May 2008. The story of how founder John Horton came to be an estate agent at all is one we told earlier this year. It involves a run of bad luck, a borrowed fax machine and a well timed cup of tea. If you missed it, it is worth two minutes: “It started with a fax”
Nearly two decades on, the business has grown from a single Hammersmith office and a handful of people to a team of more than 20 across two offices in Hammersmith and Chiswick, covering W6, W12, W4 and the postcodes around them.
There are homes on our books we have now sold four times over, the same front door opening on four different chapters.
Our West London community
Ask anyone at Horton and Garton what they are most proud of and the answer is rarely a sale.
Over the years the team has volunteered regularly with The Upper Room, supported Dad’s House, the local foodbank and the RNLI, backed local schools and choirs and played a part in the events that give this corner of London its character, from Artists at Home to the Bedford Park Festival.

Most of our team live within walking distance of the office, and that local knowledge is the real engine behind everything we do.
