Those of us who have lived in the area for some time know that we are fortunate to have a broad selection of sports clubs in West London.

As estate agents, the whereabouts of the nearest sports club, gym, swimming pool or activity centre is information we offer to potential buyers, given the importance these elements of the surrounding area can play in a decision to move house.

In this article, we highlight some of the top sports clubs in West London, together with some of the most popular local gyms and organisations that cater to children.

The Hogarth Club

Hogarth members receive 5 personal training sessions in the first month of membership and one complimentary personal training session every month of membership thereafter. The Hogarth Club is predominantly adult only.

David Lloyd Acton Park

An all-encompassing offering from the nationwide chain David Lloyd. Their Acton Park club boasts exceptional facilities including an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, multiple tennis courts, a large gym, spa with outside jacuzzi (adults only), an extensive range of classes from yoga to Bodypump, children’s activities galore and a creche for younger children.

Virgin Active Chiswick Riverside

One of Virgin’s largest gyms, Chiswick Riverside has it all 26 tennis courts, two swimming pools and an abundance of fun activities for the whole family to get involved in. This health club has a big focus on family with Club V and Kid’s camps operating after school and in the holidays.

Roko Chiswick

Roko Health Club located in Chiswick Bridge, has a broad range of facilities to suit all lifestyle and fitness goals. The club boasts a gym with state of the art equipment, a 20 metre indoor pool for lane swimming alongside a luxurious spa, complete with a sauna and steam room, perfect for unwinding after a tough workout.

There are a variety of classes ranging from cardio based workouts and indoor cycling to strength and conditioning classes and circuits.

Swimming lesson for children are also run every Saturday and Sunday from 12.30pm until 6.00pm and weekdays from 4pm – 6.30pm Monday to Friday by Sports Generation.

Rocks Lane is a go-to for any parent in W4 or neighbouring postcodes.

With 10 multi-use floodlit courts, you can enjoy playing tennis, football or netball all year round. And, if you’re looking for something new to try, the club has introduced Padel Tennis, which has quickly become a favourite among visitors.

Alternatively if you need a break from all the activities or simply want to relax, there is on-site cafe and a soft play area for children.

Dukes Meadows Golf, Tennis & Ski

Overlooking the River Thames, Dukes Meadows, is a pay and play venue open to all ages and abilities.

With no membership required, Dukes Meadows has become a popular destination for those looking for a day out whether that is playing golf, tennis or on the indoor ski slope skiing or snowboarding.

Dukes Meadows features a well-maintained 9-hole par 3 golf course, a 5-hole teaching academy course, a practice putting green, a 60-bay floodlit driving range, indoor and floodlit outdoor tennis courts, a gym, treatment rooms, and an indoor ski slope (Skieasy).

Club Des Sports

A sporting centre of excellence, Club Des Sports offers a wide selection of sports with facilities including a 3G pitch, tennis courts, netball courts, cricket nets, and classes including boxing, karate, ballet, and gymnastics. For adults there is 5-a-side football and tag rugby, and classes are run for children through the term with many holiday camps held at Club Des Sports outside of school term time.

Hartswood Tennis Club

Hartswood Gardens, Hartswood Rd, London W12 9NR

This private, non-profit club is run by passionate local volunteers. Nestled away just a stones throw from Wendell Park, Hartswood Tennis Club has 6 all-weather floodlit courts, complemented by facilities including changing rooms, club-house and bar. Members can join social tennis sessions and also have the ability to play competitively with participation in the Middlesex Leagues.

Shooting Starz

Shooting Starz was formed in 2013 with the aim to encourage the participation of young people in sport at all levels.

The club offers a lot of opportunities for young people and adults to get involved in sports, including football, netball and gymnastics.

They have 23 youth football teams competing in local leagues and a Friday night five-a-side league which is particularly popular, with over 500 families involved. Additionally, they offer group training sessions on Saturday mornings, 1-to-1 coaching and Dad’s football.

Netball classes are held for children aged 5-12, and take place on their brand-new courts at Club Des Sports. They have a lot of youth teams competing in local leagues, and also run a Friday night high 5ives league.

During school holidays and half-terms, Shooting Starz hold holiday camps for children ages 3 to 13 years old in football, gymnastics, netball, or multi-activity.
